Movie Tuesday

I've watched a number of movies over the last week and a half so I figured it was time for another Movie Tuesday.

The first one was Tomorrowland. I had heard mixed reviews on this one, but I knew I wanted to see it, first because it was sci-fi and second because I'd seen an extended scene at a movie theatre. And why don't they do this kind of thing for all movies instead of the three minutes of scenes from the entire movie and omg now I don't have to go watch it because I've seen everything that's going to happen?  A single extended scene tells you a lot about the movie and it totally worked to get me to want to see this one.

Anyway, I quite liked it. The girl was okay, though I liked future girl better than the main character, and she made me LOL with her shutting down protocol and whatnot. I loved George Clooney's curmudgeony character. I do love the grumpy ones. It wasn't as good as I'd hoped it would be, but it wasn't a bad movie and it was a fun way to spend a couple of hours.

I also watch San Andreas (can you tell a bunch of good movies have just come out on BluRay?).

I have to admit, I was disappointed in this one. And The Rock was in it! Usually a movie with Dwayne Johnson is worth seeing, even if it's not a good movie. This wasn't a bad movie, although there was plenty of times I rolled my eyes and had to not growl at the flagrant disregard of anything resembling reality. I can suspend my disbelief well enough, though, and I did. However, Dwayne Johnson was missing his usual sparkle. I don't know what it was, but it seemed like he was just phoning this one in, so it was disappointing just on that front as well.

Luckily, after watching San Andreas and feeling sad that it hadn't been better, or that the Rock had at least been fun to watch, I put on Jurassic World. Yes, I'd already seen it before in the theatres, but I loved it and knew I'd enjoy it again. And I did! Chris Pratt is totally yummy in this (and totally an Alpha, omg so very yummy!) I can still highly recomment Jurassic World as a fantastic addition to the franchise and I can't wait for the next one. (There will be a next one, right?)

At that point I was on a Chris Pratt kick and went ahead and watched Guardian of the Galaxy as well, even though I'd already seen it, too. Yep, still enjoyed it. My favourite characters from this one are Groot and the guy with all the tattoos who doesn't do metaphors and takes everything said literally. He was a hoot. (And I'm as terrible at names in movies as I am with names in real life. I will recognize a person I haven't seen in a dog's age, but for the life of me I won't be able to come up with their name.)

So all in all, not a bad week of viewing and only one movie I wish was way better than it was.

Max and Pixels are coming out today and I'll probably pick those up even though I've heard that Pixels was disappointing. As I'm going in not expecting much from it, though, maybe I will be pleasantly surprised. And I'm looking forward to the Terminator movie and The Man From Uncle both being out on BluRay in November.

Happy Tuesday!
