Movie Tuesday

Watched two movies on Shomi this weekend.

Dead Rising: Watchtower and Stargate.

Dead Rising wanted to be a series and felt more like a series premiere than a movie. It wasn't bad, but didn't hold up to say The Walking Dead, or even Z-Nation. Still, I always enjoy a zombie movie that doesn't suck and this one didn't suck. I did really appreciate that the main character didn't suddenly turn into macho man top zombie killer as soon as the zombies showed up. He was in fact, kind of inept and zombie stupid.

It had been a while since I'd seen Stargate, the original movie, so it was great fun to put it on again. I do love this movie a lot. It took me a long while to warm up to the series, though I finally did and enjoyed the several iterations of it, but it was the movie where my love for Stargate started. It's an action movie, but with lots of humor and the play of two opposites together - the alpha male retired colonel and the inept, allergy ridden brainiac. And in the end, they need each other. Just yum.

And hey, can you believe Daniel from Stargate and Reddington from The Blacklist are played by the same guy?

Oh, I also watched Sharknado 3: Oh hell no. The first one was hilarious and fun. The second one was fun. This one was uh, just plain stupid. There's a couple hours I'll never get back.

I haven't watched it yet, but I did pvr Lavalanchula.and will probably peek at it on the weekend.
