I went to see Rogue One the day after it came out, then yesterday I went to see Sing. There are spoilers in this post, so leave now if you don't want to read them.
Sing was cute, fun, and a nice way to spend a couple of hours. I'm not the biggest fan of animated movies, but this one was entertaining.
Rogue One I loved. Even though everyone died at the end, which really, was to be expected, I loved it. Action, adventure, very much a Star Wars movie. And I loved how seamlessly it merged into A New Hope. I loved how it 'fixed' the problem of why would they make the death star with a fault like the one is had - that just doesn't make sense. Except it does now!
The new characters were all wonderful. I especially liked Cassian and K2SO. That android was a total hoot. And snarky. I love that in a droid.
I highly recommend it to all Star Wars fans.
This week I hope to see Passengers

Movie Tuesday
I have two movies I've seen recently - one good, the other great.
So on Thanksgiving, we downloaded The Secret Life of Pets and watched it in the evening at Chez Tortuga-Talbot. It was a little slow to start off with, but then it picked up and was fun and funny. I do have to say though, Weiner World? Very weird.
On Sunday I went to see Doctor Strange. This one I loved. I really loved. There are not that many movies that once I come out of, I'd like to go right back in and see again. This one I did.
The visuals were amazing. Like totally a hundred percent amazing.
The story was good and solid - often the origin stories from comic book adaptations can drag a little. There was none of that with this one.
There was real character development. And at the same time, Strange is still very flawed at the end, even if he's changed. I love too that just because he can kill people now, he still holds to his oath to do no harm and it's not an easy thing for him to do.
I haven't liked a movie as much as I like this one in a long time.
Go see it on the big screen if you can!

Movie Tuesday
I haven't seen any movies in the past week, but there are a number that are on my go to list - which usually translates to I may see 1 at the theatre, but I'll be picking the rest up when they come out on Blu-Ray.
Dr. Strange: Benedict Cumberbatch - yay! Weird assed, but amazing visuals - yay!
Arrival: sci-fi - 'nuff said
Moana: Dwayne Johnson doing voice-over for a main character - yay! Plus the ads for it look adorable

Collateral Beauty: I want to see this one solely based on the ads I've seen

Movie Tuesday
No movies this week. I did try to watch a a made for TV movie that had a male nanny in it and I thought that might be fun. I turned it off about ten minutes in. It was not good.
So I thought I'd talk about some of the new sci-fi genre TV I'm watching. Aftermath The Travelers, Falling Water and Westworld.
I've only seen the first episode of The Travelers and Falling Water and two episodes of Aftermath and Westworld, but so far I'm at the very least intrigued if not outright interested.
The Travelers is mind time travel and the set up is good, I'm looking forward to seeing where they're going with it.
Falling Water is fucked the hell up. I do love a story where you're not quite sure what is real, what is the pov character's imagination. I do love an unreliable narrator.
Aftermath is sort of like The Walking Dead, except that instead of just Zombies they've thrown ever kind of beastie, demon, disease in there that they could think of. So far I'm liking it, but I hope that they have a plan and aren't just throwing everything at the story and hoping it'll sort itself out somewhere down the line.
Westworld is interesting, but I already feel for the fabricated people who are being used as things and I have a feeling it's going to be a hard watch the farther on we go.
I do love the fact that there is more and more sci-fi/fantasy/specfic type shows out there, and not just as summer replacements anymore, either. This is the advantage to all the channels that aren't 'the major networks' out there. They can do shorter seasons, but are less tied to what is perceived as mainstream and most popular.

Movie Tuesday
Picked up and watched the new Independence Day movie. It wasn't bad. Which is kind of damning with faint praise. I'd heard it was terrible, though, and it wasn't that. However, for full disclosure, I hadn't had much sleep the night before and I did actually fall asleep about 10 minutes in and I slept for forty minutes or so. I did not bother to rewind and just went forward with it. It might have been better with those forty minutes, or it might have been worse. I think it says a lot that I didn't bother to go back to where I'd fallen asleep and it didn't really matter...
Switching gears to future movies: I really want to see Dr. Strange once it comes out. I watched the first 30 seconds or so of the preview the last time I saw a movie in the theatre (if it's a movie I want to see I refuse to watch the whole movie theatre preview because it is just so long and I prefer going into movies not having been totally spoiled) and the visuals alone look stunning. But it also has Benedict Cumberbatch in it and he's a great actor, so he should be able to do a good job with a much quirkier character.
Based on the visuals alone, I'd like to see it on the big screen. Especially if it's going to be playing in 3D at the IMAX!

Switching gears to future movies: I really want to see Dr. Strange once it comes out. Movie Tuesday
Didn't see any 'regular' movies this last week, but I did go see "A Beautiful Planet" on the Omni Imax at the Ontario Science Center on Sunday.
It was stunning. The screen is takes up most of the dome above and this particular movie was views of Earth from the Space Station. The astronauts also shared their thoughts and feelings. Our planet it truly amazing as seen from space (it's pretty amazing up close and person on the surface, too.)
There were shots from various times of year, from day and nighttime. There were shots of the aurora from the side and above, which were simply stunning.
One of the most striking pictures wase the shot of the two Korea's at night. There are the bright spots of the cities in, along with all sorts of less bright clusters and spots in the rest of the country. There's lights along the borders, and then bam, there is almost complete darkness on the rest of North Korea. It says a lot about the way they live.
I got to see Ottawa at night, too, if only briefly.
One of the really neat things was how the planet looks unpopulated during the day, but once it's night and all the lights come on, you can tell there's tons of people.
The movie totally reignited my desire to go into space. I know it's just a dream at this point, but it's definitely something I very much want to do.

Movie Tuesday
So this weekend in the evenings I just wanted to watch something easy and mindless. My quest to do this was much harder than expected.
I put on Ice Soldiers. I promptly fell asleep in the first few minutes. When I woke up and went back to the beginning, I discovered that maybe I'd fallen asleep because it was a boring (and stupid) movie. I turned it off about fifteen minutes in.
So next I tried Angry Birds. I didn't fall asleep this time, but I only lasted five minutes. The ads for this one made me think it might be better than I imagined. Nope. Not so.
Next up, Extraction with Bruce Willis. Okay, I thought. action movie, Bruce Willis, this is going to have to be half-decent, right? Wrong! It was not in the least bit decent and I only put up with maybe ten minutes of the terrible acting before I gave up on it.
So I turned to Netflix. The first thing that caught my eye was something called ARQ. It was science fiction, so I thought it had a chance. Then it starts and there are five hundred logos at the beginning of production companies and I'm like, what they all contributed two dollars? And then it starts and it's a groundhog day thing - and it all takes place in a house that looks seriously under construction or demolition inside and yep, no money, done completely in this house. But. It was good. I quite enjoyed it. A good twist on the groundhog day trope.
I also watched Now you See Me 2. I'd seen the first one and thought it wasn't bad. This one wasn't awful or anything, but it wasn't as good as the first one had been.
So it was a marginally successful movie viewing weekend - more misses than hits and misses that I actually turned off (and I am very forgiving on movies. I don't just turn them off very often, especially that close to the beginning!)

Movie Tuesday
Two movies and two police procedurals this past week.
I happened upon City of Ember and it was interesting. An adaptation of a kids' book, I'm sure. I spent the first half of the movie wondering where I'd seen the male lead before and then it hit me - he played Victor Frankenstein in Penny Dreadful. He looks much older in Penny. Ember was predictable, but an enjoyable way to spend a couple hours.
I while ago I'd dvr'd Zoombies. Oh God, this is a bad movie, but the actors are giving it their all like they don't even know. I totally enjoyed this for all the wrong reasons. I can't say I'd recommend it because it really is a bad movie. It is however, highly entertaining.
I watched the last episode of The Night Of. It follows a single case from the day the crime was committed to jut after the end of the trial. It was fascinating to see how being in jail changes the kid who was charged with the murder. And how this seemingly innocent kid, wasn't as innocent as he seemed.
The Killing is in a similar vein, in that the whole season follows a single investigation. I'm watching it on Netflix, so I get to watch whenever I have time. I'm about halfway through and enjoying it very much. The acting is great, the characters are very well-developed. And a little more than halfway through the season, I'm still guessing who did it. I definitely recommend this one.
These two types of police procedural are very different from your standard where there might be a longer arc that goes over several episodes, or a tighter arc that goes over two episodes, but otherwise there's a new case every week. I think the advent of Netflix and services like that allows for these type of stories to be told over an entire season, because of the nature of being able to binge watch the shows.
And I do love the binge watching aspect. Often I'll DVR (I still go to type in tape whenever I talk about DVRing a show because that's what it always was until recently) a show for most of the season and then go back and binge watch. It's funny, though, because while a lot of shows lend themselves to that, or work doing that, there's some that suffer a little. The sameness of each episode comes out, or it's too intense to watch too many of in a row.

Movie Tuesday
Still haven't managed to go see the Suicide Squad. I'm aiming for the weekend coming up. It's just been too busy.
I did see a movie on TV - The Big Wedding. It's got Robert DeNiro, Diane Keaton, Susan Sarandon and Katherine Heigl in it. It was a hoot and I enjoyed it. Nice and light and with a happy ending.
I've got Sharknado 4 (4?5? I can't remember what they are up to) but I haven't had the will to watch it yet. The first one was hilarious for how bad it was, the second was almost making fun of itself tongue in cheek, but the last one I remember was rapidly going downhill without that je ne said quoi that made the first one work. Has anyone seen this one? It is so bad it's funny or just so bad?
I guess that's all I've got on the movie front this week.

Movie Tuesday
Haven't been to a movie or seen one at home over the last week. It's been all Olympics on the TV.
I do want to get to Suicide Squad on the big screen. I have heard mixed reviews for it, so I'm going in with a little trepidation, but movies tend to be better for me if I'm not anticipating them too highly. The less they have to live up to, the better really.
I keep thinking that I'll do lots of movies over the summer months when there's lots of new ones coming out each week and then it somehow doesn't happen. Usually because I have stuff to do. And in the end, most movies are just as good at home with less other people and the ability to pause the movie if I need something to eat or to go to the bathroom.
Gonna try for Suicide Squad this weekend. That would give me something to report back on next week ;)

Movie Tuesday
Went to see Star Trek Beyond in 3D at the IMAX. It was a great movie. Snark, action and kick ass special effects. It was very much a Star Trek movie. Totally enjoyed it.
Bought Batman VS Superman and watched it the next day. I heard it was a bad movie from many sources so my expectations were quite low. Turns out they were not low enough. What a pointless, boring movie. And I know Batman is the darkest and the baddest of the Justice League superheroes, but he comes off as a total asshole in this one. It was a waste of money, a waste of time and a waste anyone who was involved with it or who watched it's brain cells. Why yes, I do have strong feelings about how bad this movie was ;)

Movie Tuesday
Watched a couple of movies this week - Oculus and Kung Fu Panda 3 and they couldn't have been more different!
Oculus was on Shomi and I don't usually go for scary movies, but this one seemed interesting to me from the description, so I went for it. And I have to say that I really enjoyed it. This wasn't a gory movie, and it wasn't boo around every single corner, so I wasn't freaked out ten minutes in and not wanting to see anymore.
The story was interesting, but even more interesting was the story-telling. It would move from the present to the past as the two main characters reminisced, but the further you got into the movie, the more seamless and mixed together the past and present parts were. It really gave the audience the feeling of not knowing what was real and what wasn't, which was the problem that the two main characters were having. I very much recommend it.
I also watched Kung Fu Panda 3 which had just come out on BluRay and it was totally cute and charming as I figured it would be. And Master Ugway was back! Funny how the turtles are often the Zen dudes in animated films - the other one I'm thinking of is the turtles from Finding Nemo.
The one thing I totally loved about this movie was the music for the bad guy. It made me smile every time it came on.
I will also admit that, like most animated movies, about twenty minutes in I had a nice little nap. Oops.

Movie Tuesday
Went to a movie on the weekend. Central Intelligence with Dwayne The Rock Johnson and Kevin Hart.
Their tag line is "A little Hart and a big Johnson" so how could I resist this movie?
The movie had action, humor, and a few aww moments. The bad guys get theirs and the good guys triumph. It dealt with subjects like bullying and being able to live in the now and appreciate what you have and who you are.
My favorite thing about the movie was that Bob's favorite movie was Sixteen Candles. And the little homage to the end of that movie at the end of this one was completely adorable. Plus, the rock in a unicorn t-shirt and rocking a fanny pack the entire movie? What more could you ask for?
Dwayne Johnson does a wonderful job of humor and action together and I totally enjoyed his character in this one.
I recommend it as a fun, light movie with a positive message and that left you with a feel good feeling at the end. And I hope the Blu-Ray/DVD release has a ton more bloopers, because the minute or so of them that they ran at the end of the movie had us all rolling in the aisles and I can just imagine that they had a blast filming the movie.
I also had a chance to watch Pitch Perfect on TV (so yes there were ads and possibly cuts) at any rate, it was a much cuter movie than I had expected and I liked it more than I'd anticipated. Funnily enough, another John Hughes movie is celebrated in this one - The Breakfast Club this time. And again the ending is referenced as one character thinks that the song at the end is the most perfect movie ending song ever.
It's just a really neat bit of serendipity there between the two movies I saw and the references in them to 80s teen dramas and the endings of those at that.

My favorite thing about the movie was that Bob's favorite movie was Sixteen Candles. And the little homage to the end of that movie at the end of this one was completely adorable. Plus, the rock in a unicorn t-shirt and rocking a fanny pack the entire movie? What more could you ask for?
Dwayne Johnson does a wonderful job of humor and action together and I totally enjoyed his character in this one.
I recommend it as a fun, light movie with a positive message and that left you with a feel good feeling at the end. And I hope the Blu-Ray/DVD release has a ton more bloopers, because the minute or so of them that they ran at the end of the movie had us all rolling in the aisles and I can just imagine that they had a blast filming the movie.
I also had a chance to watch Pitch Perfect on TV (so yes there were ads and possibly cuts) at any rate, it was a much cuter movie than I had expected and I liked it more than I'd anticipated. Funnily enough, another John Hughes movie is celebrated in this one - The Breakfast Club this time. And again the ending is referenced as one character thinks that the song at the end is the most perfect movie ending song ever.
It's just a really neat bit of serendipity there between the two movies I saw and the references in them to 80s teen dramas and the endings of those at that.

Movie Tuesday
As I got a lot of my weekend todos done ahead of time this past week, and it was like an oven outside, I wound up watching a lot of movies over the weekend.
Zootopia - Animated movies are often a chance at a nap for me. This one kept my attention, though, and it was awfully cute. Plus, it was great to see a movie with a strong female lead.
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies - I have not read the book and I wasn't exactly sure what to expect.
What I got was a fairly true to the original Pride and Prejudice, certainly in spirit, only if there happened to be zombies at the time. It was fun and had a good dose of humor. And again, some kick-ass women. And I did love the take on zombies for this one - I know some people prefer their zombies traditional, and I do enjoy a good traditional zombie, but I like to have a little variety in my zombies, too.
Gods of Egypt - I don't even remember seeing any previews for this one, but it came out the same week that Pride and Prejudice and Zombies did so I picked it up, hoping for a fun action movie with a decent storyline (after all, myths are great stories, so the source material is fairly rich.) What I got was an okay movie that probably could have been a lot more than it was. I did like the effect of the gods being bigger than the humans and they did a great job with that. So it wasn't terrible, but I really felt it could have been a lot more than it was.
Redemption - saw this on Shomi, it's a Jason Stratham movie and the blurb was something about an ex-military homeless man getting a chance at redemption as an avenging angel. So I figured I was in for a good kick a bunch of ass movie. That isn't what I got, though. There was ass-kicking, but it wasn't an action movie for the sake of being an action movie. It was actually very good and far more to it than I would have guessed from the blurb. I'm really glad I got to see it.
Centurion - this seemed really familiar from the blurb, but I couldn't tell if I'd seen it or not. I had not and I realized when it was over and it gave me the "if you liked this you might like" listing that I realized that The Eagle was the movie that I had seen. From what I remember of The Eagle, this one was a better done movie than The Eagle. I didn't like it as much as Redemption, but I had been prepared to turn it off if it was crap, and I didn't turn it off.
My weekly to do list is long and with the heat, I'm finding it hard to buckle down and get stuff done, so we'll see if I am able to spend as much of next weekend watching stuff.

Movie Tuesday
Saw two movies this week. One on Shomi - Aftershock, and one was 'rented' through Rogers - Victor Frankenstein.
Aftershock was sort of a horror movie - filmed and produced in Chile. And it was slow to get to the disaster/horror part, but that was okay because there was something fascinating about this Chilean concert promoter, his best friend and their 'gringo' friend. They met up with some chicks and wound up travelling with them. It was all very odd but not in a bad way.
Then the earthquake happened (just over halfway through the movie) and things went to hell (for the characters). I think it was very realistic the way they had people reacting in the club to the earthquake itself, and to the people being hurt. From there it got worse, a tsunami warning, escaped prisoners, rape, murder, escaping through tunnels beneath the church only to be taken out by the tsunami - one by one everyone of the original six died. All in all, not a terrible movie.
Then I watched Victor Frankenstein, which is only a couple of years old. Why had I never seen any previews for this movie? It was a neat take on the Frankenstein story. The acting was superb, the cinematography beautiful and the story line interesting. It was very... lush and that contrasted well with the parts that weren't. I don't want to say too much because I don't want to spoil anyone who might want to see it. I totally enjoyed it.
I'm feeling like a movie again tonight. So I'll have to poke around and see what all is available and what I'm in the mood for.

Movie Tuesday
Didn't watch any movies in the last couple weeks, though there are a few on my radar.
Back when I was in university, for three years running I had no classes Tuesday afternoons/evenings and I used to go to a movie once a week. Wendy's for a single combo followed by a half price movie. So I saw everything that came out, aside from the horrors, which I never did love and still don't as they frighten me.
After that, I went if the movie appealed to me at all.
Nowadays, with TVs being so big and BluRay's and whatnot, it's just as easy to see a movie at home and I look at the movies that come out and they get separated into three groups - will watch when they're out on BluRay (the biggest group), would like to see in the theatre but will probably see on BluRay, and the must see it in a threatre ones.
This summer on the wouldn't mind seeing them in the theatre but will probably wait for the BluRay are: The Nice Guys, X-Men Apocalypse, Independence Day: Resurgence, Central Intelligence, The Secret Life of Pets, Jason Bourne, Max Steele
And on the I'd really like to see it at the theatre ones are: Star Trek: Beyond, Suicide Squad and Dr. Strange (I'm cheating with this one as it's not out until November, but it's the one I'm most excited about -- which I should stop being because anticipating a film makes it need to live up to a lot. But it looks visually stunning, neat, weird, and I think Benedict Cumberbatch is a fantastic actor.)
There are lots of movies that are on the see it when it's out on BluRay list, but they are too many to mention.
On another note that came up while I was looking at the coming this summer movie list - They remade Ghostbusters? What the hell? That's just not right. I think they should do something like what they did with Independence Day - same world x amount of years later.

Movie Tuesday
Saw two movies over the last week - The 5th Wave and Captain America: Civil War. There are going to be spoilers for both movies below so back out now if you don't want to see.
The 5th Wave had caught my interest when I originally saw the previews for it, so I picked it up when it came out on Blu-Ray. I have to say I was disappointed. If it had been the two hour pilot of a television show, it would have been fine to have so many things left in the dark, because you would know that more details were coming. But a two hour movie needs to make sense. This one was basically pointless. Nothing anyone did made any sense and there was far too much left out.
Then there was the telling instead of showing thing. Lots and lots of telling. It's a movie for Pete's sake - showing instead of telling should be a no brainer. But the worst of it really was the pointlessness of it. I kept waiting for there to be a point, but it never did happen.
I saw the latest Captain America movie this past weekend. While I liked it well enough, I do have to say that it wasn't my favorite in the franchise.
I have never really liked Tony Stark and this movie did nothing to make me like him any better. The whole really felt like someone said - hey, wouldn't it be neat to watch Iron Man and Captain America fight? Who would win? Would would choose what side to fight? Oh yeah, let's make a movie where they beat the shit out of each other.
I also find the whole plotline of it's all your fault that something bad happened in the world to begin to be grating. After all, what would have happened if when the Cree invaded the earth, the Avengers just went, oh well, we might cause some damage, so we're just going to sit this one out? This seems to be a superhero staple, though, so I know it's not going anywhere.
Don't get me wrong, I did like the movie. I really enjoyed Bucky - the tortured villain, and the way he and Rogers both cared for each other. Plus I adore Hawkeye and always love to get another chance to see him. It just wasn't my favorite one.
It was fun to see Ant-Man and Spiderman as a part of the group and I liked the Jaguar. So it wasn't disappointing, but it wasn't as good as I had hoped it would be.
I saw the preview for Dr. Strange. OMG, this one looks good. The visuals were stunning and it's got Benedict Cumberbatch in the lead role. It has great promise.

Movie Tuesday
Star Wars: The Force Awakens comes out on Blu-Ray today and I'm looking forward to seeing it again. I have a hankering to re-watch the entire saga.
Speaking of re-watching, I'm halfway through a re-watch of the Lord of the Rings movies. Literally halfway -- watched the first one and the first disk of the second one. Luckily, as I've seen this one, I can stop for a bit in between. I've seen the movies a number of times, but it's always fun to watch again. There's a lot to love about them and I find myself anticipating scenes and phrases that have become... a part of the vocabulary. One does not simply walk into Mordor... *grins*
That reminds me of the first time I saw Casablanca. It was back in the late 80s and I got to see it on the big screen. Concordia University had a film class every semester where they showed the movies they studied every Wednesday for free if you were a student, two bucks if you weren't. It was a double feature and each semester was a different theme so the movies were always different.
So one year they were doing a bunch of black and white classics and I got to go to Casablanca. What a neat experience. There is so very much in that movie that is a total cliche now, so many lines that are a part of our consciousness. But this is the movie where all those lines come from. When this movie first came out, it was all new, original. It was absolutely fascinating.
One year they had Science Fiction movies and I got to see Silent Running for the first time and I totally loved it. (Same night they showed 2001, which I didn't like at all. Hopefully I won't have to turn in my sci-fi fan card for admitting that).
Another year was Australian and Peter Weir moves (and this was before I actually went to Oz, but I knew I wanted to so these movies totally increased my desire to go). The Man From Snowy River, and Gallipoli are the two that stand out for me, along with The Year of Living Dangerously. I already loved Peter Weir thanks to Witness and Dead Poets Society, Gallipoli and The Year of Living Dangeously sealed the deal for me.
Next Tuesday I'll be in Vegas for RT, but I will be watching a movie - Cinema Craptastique is Tuesday evening where we will be watching Abduction and making fun of it via tweets!

Movie Tuesday
On Sunday I went to see Deadpool. I had not seen any of the previews for it and I was not familiar with the comic books/lore, so I went in completely unspoiled and not quite sure what to expect. I wanted to see it because it's a marvel movie and I enjoy those on the whole, so I figured there was a good bet I'd like this one.
I loved it! From the opening credits which were hilarious and original (Written by: The Tue Heroes Here and I have to totally agree with that - the writing on this one was fantastic.)
The story telling was stellar. So many of the origin movies for the superhero/comic books are a little slow, a little boring. The real fun of the stories start after the beginning. This movie stopped that from happening by having a series of flashbacks, which totally worked because of Deadpool's penchant for breaking the fourth wall, like all the time. (and I understand he does this all the time in the comic books too).
It was part action movie, part love story and all snark. It totally earned it's adult rating on the situations and innuendo which it was full of. And it was nice to see a movie that didn't feel like it had been 'sanitized'. I am looking forward to the next one.
Then later in the afternoon I saw The Last Witch Hunter, which I didn't expect much of seeing as it had been in the theatres about two and a half minutes. But it had Vin Diesel in it and I'll put up with a lot for that.
It wasn't bad. It was no Deadpool, but it was entertaining and kept my interest throughout. And Vin Diesel had hair! On top of his head and a long beard and mustache! Not through the entire movie thank God, because wow, did he look strange. The bald head? Hot. Hairy head? Not so much.
So it was a good movie weekend!

Movie Tuesday
Recently watched The Theory of Everything, about the life of Stephen Hawking from when he's diagnosed. What an amazing thing love and support can do - he was given two years, tops, to live. The movie is very good, especially if you're familiar with Stephen Hawking at all. I loved getting a little insight into how he thought and how his friends and family helped him to communicate long after he lost the ability to speak.
Watched the first three movies in the Steve Rogers arc - Captain America, the Avengers and The Winter Soldier. I liked Captain America better this time around than I had the original time I saw it. Which puts Iron Man movies as the only ones of the Avengers series that I really don't care for. I'm glad they 'redeemed' Tony Stark in the third Iron Man movie, but I really don't care that much for the character and have no desire to see the movies againMy favorites in this franchise remain the Thor movies, along with the two Avengers movies.
I have to admit that I am looking forward to both Deadpool and the Suicide Squad. I am not familiar with the comics/lore for either of them and that's the way I like it.
Something called Blue Seduction was on TV the other day and the blurb sounded interesting, so I DVR'd it. I gave it a half hour and it was lucky it got that long -- big old do not recommend on that one.
Watched The Man From Uncle which was great fun. Almost like the original bond movies, with that tongue in cheek by play between the male leads to go along with the spy plot and action sequences. I had never seen the original series, so I had no real expectations going in.
Then I watched The Martian. I loved this movie. And while, no, I wouldn't classify it as a comedy oh Golden Globe people, it was funny and it was funny throughout. The book it was based on is now on my reading list. A book which started its life as a free download on the author's webpage before being picked up by a publisher. How cool is that? I hope he got a kazillion dollars for the movie rights.
Movies coming to the theater in the next few months that I am looking forward to, although most will no doubt be watched via BluRay on my TV than on the big screen:

We'll see how many I manage to actually get to in the theater. I'll bet there's some goodies coming out over the summer as well, but I'll anticipate those closer to the time.
