Top Ten Tuesday - Halloweenpalooza Edition

Last week's scary movie list made me think of one of my favorite 'scary' type movie. That would be zombies! I do enjoy a zombie movie. I decided to include TV shows, too because of the two walking dead shows.

Top Ten Favorite Zombie Movies (and TV shows)

10. Resident Evil. I wanted these to be better than they were, but I still like the movies.
9. I am Legend. I wanted this one to be better, too because it had so much potential.
8. Z Nation. I'm a couple seasons behind, but this is a bizarre show and I love the half-zombie character.
7. Fear the Walking Dead. The heroin addicted son is my absolute favorite part of this show - he's so much a zombie himself right at the beginning
6. The Walking Dead. I watched faithfully, along with the Talking Dead until the season opener with Neegan and his bat. I made it all the way through that episode but haven't been able to go back.
5. Black Sheep. This movie is bizarre and I love it because of that. Zombie sheep - I mean really, that's all I needed to say, right?
4. World War Z. I have heard the book is even better, though I have not read it.
3. I Zombie. I love the humor. I love the premise. I love the way the bad guy shifts back and forth.
2. Shaun of the Dead. Again, humor with the horror. This is such a great movie.
1. Warm Bodies. OMG, a zombie movie that's a love story - with the Zombie as one of the couple! That's after my own heart.

Halloweenpalooza Day 3 Contest

Today's contest is for an ebook copy of The Supers. Just least a comment and I'll draw a random winner on the weekend.

The Supers

Hunting ghosts and finding more than they bargained for.

Blaine Franks is a member of the paranormal research group the Supernatural Explorers. When the group loses their techie to a cross-country move, newly graduated Flynn Huntington gets the job. Flynn fits in with the guys right off the bat, but when it comes to him and Blaine, it’s more than just getting along.

Things heat up between Blaine and Flynn as they explore their first haunted building, an abandoned hospital, together. Their relationship isn’t all that progresses, though, and soon it seems that an odd bite on Blaine’s neck has become much more.

Hitchhiking ghosts, a tragic love story forgotten by time, and the mystery of room 204 round out a romance where the things that go bump in the night are real.

It's available at Dreamspinner Press.

Book Day Wednesday

Book 2 in the Supers series came out just yesterday - The Librarian's Ghost was great fun to write and I hope everyone enjoys it.

The Librarian's Ghost

Can love survive the perils of MacGregor House?

The Supernatural Explorers are back and looking for their next big paranormal case. They might’ve found it in a plea from Payne, a mild-mannered librarian who has inherited the family mansion—MacGregor House. Since moving in a few months ago, Payne’s exhausted the list of ghost hunters and experts in his quest for help. The Supers are his last chance.

So why does normally good-natured cameraman Will take an instant dislike to Payne? For that matter, why has he felt irritable and angry since they arrived at the site? It soon becomes clear that the answers they seek will be found in the basement—where nobody has gone since Payne was a little boy. As the haunting grows deadlier, things get sweeter between Will and Payne, but all hell’s about to break loose when they breach the basement door.

Will they be ready?

Halloweenpalooza - Day 2 Contest

Halloweenpalooza Day 2 Contest is for an ebook copy of Beauty and the Beast, the first book in the Fairytale Shifters series.

Just leave a comment and I'll randomly pick a winner on the weekend.

Beauty and the Beast

As a rhino shifter, Tromp knows that he’s not the sexiest beast in the world. In fact he’s clumsy and he can’t see very well, and that’s whether he’s in his human or animal form. Still, he enjoys going to the bar and watching the other shifters hooking up, especially the dancers. Then he sees a slinky kitty dancing on the little stage and he’s immediately smitten. He knows a sexy beauty like that would never go for him, but he’s happy just to watch and fantasize about what could be.

For his part, panther shifter Pepper might be gorgeous on the outside, but he knows most people see him as nothing more than a piece of meat and he’s had a hard past. There’s something in the way the big rhino shifter looks at him while he dances, though, that makes him feel special. So when his stint on the stage is over, he heads right to the rhino’s table.

Can Tromp and Pepper ignore the world’s expectations and find what they need in each other?

You can pick up a copy at Evil Plot Bunny or Amazon or Kobo.

Top Ten Tuesday, Halloweenpalooza edition

Today I do my top ten scary movies. I have to preface this with the fact that I am a wimp and I don't watch a whole lot of scary movies, so there are probably many that would be on most people's top ten that I just haven't seen.

Top Ten Scary Movies

10. The Ring. Too scary.
9. The Mist. Like most of King's stuff - the real monsters are the humans.
8. The Cube. This one I actually found fascinating.
7. The Dark Tower. I'm not sure this one qualifies as a scary movie, but it is a King adaptation so I'm counting it.
6. The Sixth Sense. I didn't see the ending coming and loved that.
5. Alien. This one combines horror with my fave genre of sci-fi.
4. Psycho. Gotta love this classic horror film.
3. The Omen. I saw this when I was still a teenager and it freaked the hell out of me.
2. Deep Blue Sea. I love it when a movie combines humor with its boo. This was not the scariest, but one I've enjoyed very much and seen more than once.
1. Seven. This movie freaked me out so bad that when I woke up in the middle of the night and needed to pee, I had to wake the partner and make him come with me - despite the fact that the bathroom was an ensuite and five feet from the foot of the bed.

Halloweenpalooza Day 1 Contest

On the first day of Halloweenpalooza, my spooky send to me... a contest!

The prize for today is an ebook copy of Shifter Rescue: Scales and of Shifter Rescue: Claws. Just comment on this post and I will choose a random winner on the weekend!

Shifter Rescue: Scales

Sometimes life gives you something magical - if Drill can rescue a dragon that is.

The Old Tavern Club is a front for a shifter rescue organization. The BDSM club works well in keeping the owner's true purpose secret, but when Pirou makes an unusual rescue, it might just be beyond the club's purview. So he calls in Drill, the owner's brother.

Drill has never even heard of a dragon shifter before, much less seen one, yet that's exactly what the beast in the club's basement looks like. As he works with the dragon, he finds all his instincts insisting that this is the sub he's been looking for.

Can Drill and the dragon rescue a happy ending for themselves?

Available at Changeling Press.

Shifter Rescue: Claws

Life is never dull when you've become a dragon shifter's keeper.

Now that Drill is Az, the dragon shifter's keeper, it's time for them to move out of the basement. Being the owner's brother has some perks and Pirou has renovated their rooms to include everything that could make a dragon shifter and a master happy. With a place of their own, Az and Drill are free to explore each other and their special relationship.

The slavers who first stole Az still want the dragon they lost, though, and when they attack, it exposes Az and Drill to the rest of the residents at the Old Tavern Club, including Drill's brother and club owner Drongo. Can Az and Drill survive the exposure?

Available at Changeling Press.

Mooooovie Moooonday - Boo!

Took the nephew to see The House With a Clock in its Walls on the weekend, which works out well as it makes for an awesome Halloween Month movie monday!

Please scroll past if you don't want any spoilers at all.

I will leave a few lines worth of space.

Not that I'm necessarily going to have lots of spoilers, but this way I don't have to worry.

I really enjoyed the movie. It's fun, and somewhat spooky, and the goriest parts involve pumpkin guts rather than human guts, and all that is about my speed for spooky movies.

The interplay between Uncle Jonathan and Florence Zimmerman was wonderful, as was most of the humor, which was aimed at all ages, from the banter for the adults to the baby Jonathan peeing gag for the younger viewers. Jack Black and Kate Blanchette were marvelous in their roles. Especially Kate Blanchette. I may have a crush on her after this movie.

I loved 'chair', who is basically the family dog. And I loved it when Uncle Jonathan told Lewis that the house liked him. That was the impression that I had gotten as well.

It's a wonderful Halloween movie for the whole family, including those who, like me, are not overly fond of horror movies (It's not that I don't like them, it's that they scare me. Which I know is the point of them, but like with roller coasters, I'm not haha scared, I'm genuinely scared. The year I got my sister tickets for a band playing at La Ronde, I went with her and because she loves the roller coasters I went on it with her, 'cause I didn't want to make her go alone. After the second go round, she says to me, "you're screaming for real, aren't you?" and I'm like "yes!")

So. The House With a Clock in its Walls is a fun movie - and I still love the title very much!
