I lived in Montreal from 1967 - 1990 and from 9th grade on, my summers were taken up by the Montreal Expos. I would cut clippings out of the paper, I would listen to the games on the radio and keep stats. I had favorite players (Tim Wallach, Andre Dawson, Gary Carter to name a few) and I would take the metro to the Big O and spend a dollar for bleacher seats to cheer them on. Every now and then I would get very lucky and my best friend's father, who was a stockbroker at the time, would get amazing seats from clients. Like third row, behind the Expos' dugout and he would bring us with him.
While I no longer lived in Montreal by 2004, I was still sad to see the team leave the city.
I might still have my stuffed Youppi in a box somewhere... (yes, the mascot was this big orange furry guy called Youppi - which is french for hooray)
