Just saw a couple of movies over the last two weeks. One on Shomi (which is a netflix type service) and one on blu-ray.
The first was About a Boy. I'd seen it before, but like it a lot and was in the mood for it. Out of curiosity I checked the actor who played the boy in the movie on IMDB and found out he's in the new Mad Max, and was the lead in Warm Bodies -- pretty neat! But of course About a Boy was done in 2002, so he's all grown up now -- but it's neat to see.
I first saw the movie About a Boy a year or so before the tv show came on and while the tv show was cute, it had nothing on the movie. I still feel that way upon seeing the movie again.
The other movie is only recently out on blu-ray and that was Blackhat. It wasn't quite what I was expecting but it was okay. Of course I had been told by someone that they'd tried watching it but had given up around the forty minute mark. It wasn't that it was bad so much as not quite what I was expecting. Also it could have been intense and it simply wasn't. I wonder if a part of the problem some movies are facing these days is that a lot of TV is getting more intense and can play out over a lot more than just two hours so movies have to be... well, more.
There's still a bunch of movies coming out this summer I want to see, stuff already out even, but the next one that I'm pretty sure I'll make the biggest effort to get to is Jurassic World. We shall see.

My God It's Monday
The calendar tells me it's the last week of May. I'm not sure how that has happened. Time goes faster all the time and frankly, I can't believe it's the end of another month, let alone that this is month five of the new year...
It was rainy day today, which really, we needed as it has been a not very rainy spring. I have baby bushes of raspberries and blackberries in the back that are needing the water to go with the sun. They all started out as sticks and have since become little bushes. Some even have flowers that means there will be fruit, which is really kind of cool.
This week is submission prep week as June 1 sees another bunch of deadlines coming up. So it's head down, working hard.
Of Love is on the coming soon page at Dreamspinner, which means you can preorder it!
Of Love
Free-spirited computer programmer Kent McMann loves life, candy, his family, and his job designing apps. With his go-getter attitude, he succeeds at anything he tackles. So having a child with a surrogate mother is the perfect start to the family he’s always wanted, even though he still hasn't found his longed-for Mr. Right.
Then, into Kent’s life comes triathlete Dex Lochland, who also happens to be a successful app designer, and the two of them hit it off. They soon begin a relationship full of fun, sex, laughter, and love. But when Kent learns his attempt at fatherhood with the surrogate has succeeded, Dex is shocked. Unknown to Kent until that moment, Dex has never wanted children.
Kent's decision before he met Dex might cost him the man of his dreams.
Out on June 24, Of Love is currently available to pre-order.
Monday out.

Palin leads a well-ordered life, needing peace and quiet after spending his days working as an information broker, reading minds for money. Which is why Tigre seems like such a strange choice for him as a lover.
When Palin sees vala Tigre in one of his mindreading forays, he knows he has to have him, despite the fact that the man has been created for two purposes; fighting and pleasure. Together they build a new life, one of pleasure and pain, of love and discipline. When life threatens to tear them apart, they fight to keep the home they’ve created, even if the obstacles they must overcome are within as much as without.
This Sean Michael Classic was originally published by Torquere Press.
Available on sale until May 31 at All Romance Ebooks and Amazon.
Available for pre-order are - The Bohemians and Beer & Clay 3: Mashing

Topaz is a free-spirit, loving easily, though searching for his true soul-mate. As soon as he meets Quincy, he realizes this is the man who has been calling for him in his dreams and he offers his whole self, body, heart, mind and soul, without thought.
Quincy gives away his heart too easily, and has been hurt in love more than once. Still, that doesn’t stop him from falling head over heels for Topaz when he first meets the man.
It seems like a match made in heaven, but Topaz lives with two men who are his best friends, and also his lovers. Will Quincy ever be able to understand that Topaz has more than enough love in his heart for his best friends and his soul-mate, or will Topaz’s bohemian ways be too much for Quincy to understand?
Originally published in the Bus Stories Anthology.
It's available at Torquere Press for pre-order and will be available for download on June 3.
Beer & Clay 3: Mashing
Life is good for Toby and Damon—maybe too good. What happens when someone seems intent on destroying their happiness?
Toby and Damon are growing closer every day, with Toby recovering from the shot to his shoulder and Damon trying to keep him from pushing too hard too fast. Things are good between them.
They’re even better in the bedroom, where Toby is learning all sorts of new things and Damon is happily pushing his limits.
They’ve almost forgotten that someone doesn’t seem as happy with their closeness as they are, when Toby walks into his studio to find it trashed and his little apartment ransacked. Are the authorities going to be able to apprehend the culprit before Toby decides the best course of action is to remove himself from the equation?
Mashing is available for pre-order now at Totally Bound and will be available for early download on June 9.
Now available at the distributors as well as the publishers' sites are - Shibari Auction House: Yves and The Butcher and The Beast.
Shibari Auction House: Yves
When Tony propositioned Yves on Christmas Eve, the man who runs the Shibari Auction House took Tony in for the week. Now that it's a brand new year, Yves wants Tony to stay, permanently.
Tony adores Yves and is more than willing to give up hooking in exchange for a menial job so he can stay with Yves. He's worried, though, that his pimp isn't going to be happy that he escaped.
Sure enough, their idyllic life is interrupted when Robbie shows up, threatening not only Tony, but Yves as well.
The Butcher and the Beast
Can a pirate and a doctor find love on the seas?
Stephen is a doctor, a practical man who wishes his sister wouldn’t worry so about the pirates that plague their island home. So it’s ironic that Stephen himself is set upon by just those pirates, who carry him off to heal their wounded captain.
John is a pirate captain, master of his fate and used to getting what he wants. And he decides he wants Stephen, even when the good doctor wants nothing more than to run away from him.
Can the beast convince the doctor who the sailors call the butcher to stay with him?
Previously published by Torquere Press.

Wednesday Book Day
The first 'grown up' books I can remember reading were my parents' Agatha Christie books. I loved these! Ms. Marple and Hercule Poirot were my heroes. They're a great place for young people to start in the genre of mystery - they're not graphic, they're not violent and they make you think as you try to work out who the killer is right along with Marple and Poirot. So they're appropriate for a younger audience. I think that's why I basically skipped over the Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys type of books - I went from Encyclopidia Brown to Agatha Christie.
If I remember correctly, And Then There Were None was my first Agatha Christie and I quickly devoured the rest. If they weren't in the house, I would scour the library for them. You've got to love those "other books" listing at the front of the paperbacks.
Do you remember the way we used to find books in a library? There were these banks of little boxes that contained index cards. They were filled alphabetically and you'd look through them for your book (so if you didn't know the actual title you were kind of screwed,) and the card would give you the Dewey decimal number of the book and then you'd go find it. Or if you were just browsing, you'd go to the mystery section, for instance, where they were all filed and look at the books themselves, titles on all the spines... I haven't been inside a library in a dog's age. You can even get your electronic books at the library online these days.
So I was a real mystery buff and then I read The Hobbit and fantasy and sci-fi overtook mystery in my reading. Not that I gave the mystery up - I still enjoyed those, but they weren't at the top of my list anymore.
Maybe I ought to investigate - I know there's a bunch of Martha Grimes and PD James books that I haven't read yet... it'd be a great place to pick up again.

My God It's Monday
So we went from turning the A/C on for the first time on Friday and me sweating my ass off in the mid-summer like heat and humidity Friday and Saturday and Sunday morning, to a beautiful Sunday afternoon followed by today being cold. And I love that we've come back to the 10C as a high weather. I sleep better, I feel better, I'm more productive. Yay for unable to decide May for only drowning me in super hot weather for two days.
So, because of the heat, I skipped the tulip festival. I'll head over on Wednesday evening instead, there will be less people there, it not being a weekend, and I'll get my beavertail and maybe hit my favorite Mexican restaurant for supper. Oh, and it won't be too damn hot, it should be a little warmer than today and that's about it.
Penny Dreadful season 2 has begun. I love this show. It's intense, it's beautiful, and I love the way they're pulling in literary characters like Frankenstein and Dorian Grey. And last night there was full frontal male nudity in a beautiful package. Damn. And Angelique was snarky and bold and totally stunning.
My favorite scene from last year was, I'm sure predictably, the scene between Dorian and Ethan. God, I love it when that is not just implied but right there on the screen. Their kiss sizzled.
So I'm trying to better my diet. Eating more fish, more vegetables, having less snacks of the chips or sweets variety. Sunday night is always elk burger night, though -- I pick them up at the market on Sunday morning (from beginning of May through to mid-November, anyway) and I have to say that I eat that burger and think damn, I really do love my red meat. I would be a lousy vegetarian. I really would.
But I gave up Coke nearly two years ago and haven't gone back to it, despite the fact that there are days I desperately want to crack a cold can and feel the bubbles burning down my throat, so I can do this. It just may take a few stops and starts. Luckily I love shrimps, scallops, crab and lobster, so at least some of the seafood is an easy choice - just not always the easiest to cook.
I'm very behind on my forgotten English word a day calendar. I think I should just pick it up from where I am and maybe put together a single post with the seven weeks or so that I'm missing when I get a chance. If I don't go back to it soon, I'm going to wind up letting it lapse entirely.
Speaking of behind, I need to get my webpage updated, don't I? Yes, I do. I have some great titles coming out in June.
I had a productive morning, and am spending the afternoon writing, which I really should get back to.
Have a good what's left of Monday!

Five Things Friday
1. I have a hard time picking favorites. Whether it's books or movies or songs or anything. I like lots of things, how can I choose only one? I don't even like picking just one color.
2. I am planning to go to the Tulip Festival tomorrow morning. There will be fresh squeezed lemonade, a Killaloe Sunrise Beavertail and, hopefully, lots of stunning tulips. The history of the festival is rather fascinating. The Dutch princess came to Canada with her children during world war two and she was pregnant. When it came time to give birth, Canada declared the wing of the hospital she was in Dutch territory so that the baby could be born in Holland. As a thank you, they began to send hundreds of thousands of bulbs every year. It always amazes me when we go that there are so many different kinds and so many different shapes of tulips.
3. Today I want to curl up with the boys who live in my head and write, write, write.
4. I am so behind on updating my webpage. I go through spurts where I update every time I have a new release, and then I drop behind for whatever reason and it's hard to get caught back up and the job slowly becomes more daunting with the passage of time. So then I do a huge update and I keep it updated with each new release for a while, then... yeah, it's the circle of web.
5. It's Friday! TGIF! I have a few plans, but am mostly hoping to take it easy. I hope you all have a fantastic weekend.

Throwback Thursday - Tripwire!
I have just self-published Tripwire! I had so much fun writing this one and Trip and Bones still both niggle at the back of my head now and then, insisting I need to do a second book for them. We shall see if they keep it up. They'll have to wait for the deadlined
Tripwire
Set in the steamy jungles of South America, Tripwire introduces an irresistible cast of characters, including Trip a merc for hire, just out for his next adrenaline rush. And his next paycheck.
Bones is on the payroll of a major tree hugging organization, gone native and patching up the people who wander into his camp.
When Trip and Bones get together, they generate enough heat to set the jungle ablaze. This is more than just a good time, even if they do manage to spend more time apart than they’d like.
Their good time blows right up in their faces, though, when someone puts a price on Bone’s head. Can they figure out why in time to save their skins? And can love overcome a merc’s greed?
Originally published by Torquere Press.

smutty excerpt:
Cap chuckled. “Thanks again, Bones. Any of you want to go swimming, I’ll hump your gear.”
“I’m going for some z’s,” said Doc.
“I need to check the radio,” put in Tin Can.
“Look like it’s just you and me, Bones.” Trip gave the doctor a grin.
“Yeah, cool. Come on, it’s down this way.” Bones sauntered off, hips swaying nice and easy. “You’re Trip, right?”
“Yep.” He followed, feeling loose and good. Ten days was a long time to sit around doing nothing, but this time it was looking up.
“Cool.” Another cigarette was pulled out, a long draw taken. “Fuck, but it’s been a busy day. Don’t repair livers every fucking afternoon.”
“His liver, eh? Sounds like something necessary. Doc knew there was something twisted up inside, but not what.” The way the man was working that cigarette, it was starting to make him hard.
“It’s a touch challenging to live without one, yeah, but his’ll heal up pretty and he’ll have a scar to brag about.” Those green eyes were picking up every bit of color in the jungle and just shining. He couldn’t help but grin at Bones; the man was obviously easy in his skin, happy. It was nice, too, to meet someone who knew not to ask questions, not to be curious. Trip figured Bones saw lots of guys, lots of people coming in and out, because Trip wasn’t even getting curious looks. The jungle opened up, and a pool widened out beside the quickly moving river. “Watch out for the fucking monkeys. They steal shit.”
He chuckled. “Maybe I should have left my piece back at camp.”
Bones started to strip, so he did as well. The pool looked nice and cool, inviting. The man had a pretty little cowboy butt, the tan going all the way, legs that just went on and on. He hadn’t seen anyone but military-style musclemen and kids for several years now, and he had to admit Bones was waking up all sorts of parts. He took the clip out of his piece and got into the water in a hurry. You never knew how some people were going to take an honest show of interest.
Bones wasn’t in any sort of hurry, bending to scrub the filthy clothes before standing, proud and tall, hanging the clothes over a stone. He was staring, he knew he was, but a man could only not look for so long. Bones was a fine, fine looking man. He wouldn’t say no to having a piece of that. He wouldn’t say no to seconds.
Then that braid got worked loose, hair going everywhere, sun setting it off. Damn. His cock throbbed as all that hair slid over Bones’ shoulders. The man was putting on a show for him. Had to be.
Bones slid into the pool, washing quickly over by the moving water, hair going dark and heavy. “Damn, this water feels fine. You need to borrow the soap?”
Soap. Man. He wanted that more than he wanted a piece of that sweet ass. “Please.”
Bones gave him a grin, handed over a little waterproof ditty bag with two bars of soap and a bottle of creamy shampoo. Disposable razors. Damn. “Help yourself.”
He went for the razor first, soaping up his face and taking care of the growth. Felt fucking good to get this clean. Bones offered him his privacy, swimming idly before climbing up onto a flat rock and sunning like a lizard. Like a seductive, half-hard, needing to be fucked lizard.
Clean and horny, he swam slowly around Bones’ rock, trying to think up a line that wouldn’t make him sound like a total horn dog.
Those green eyes opened, watched him for a long while. “You hunting for something you can’t find in that ditty bag, Trip?”
He stopped swimming and treaded water. “Yeah, I guess I might be.”
Bones slid back into the water, moving nice and easy, body brushing up against him, just enough to make him sensitive, make him want more.
“You think you have what I’m looking for, Bones?”
“I think you’ve had a nice, long look. I’m thinking we’re both full-grown and able to get what we want.”
He nodded and directed his movements so he slid up against Bones. “I imagine you’re right.”
He brought their lips together, watching those green eyes sparkle in the sunshine. Long fingers slid up along his shoulders, those lips opening for him, lazy and hungry all at once. He moaned, prick hardening the rest of the way up. Their legs tangled together as they treaded water, his tongue slipping into the wet heat of Bones’ mouth. Some men were put on this earth for fucking, eager and easy to the practice, and Bones seemed to be one of those, body sliding and rocking against his. Their cocks slid together, like brands of fire in the cool water.
“You’re built like a brick shithouse, man. Stunning.” Those green eyes were hot, happy, appreciating him.
He colored just a little, pleased all through. “And you’re all long and lean like a racehorse. Sweet.”
“Mmm…” Bones brought their lips together again, fucking his mouth nice and easy with that soft tongue. He moaned softly, one hand sliding down to cup that fine ass. Shit, they needed to get to where they could get their feet on the bottom. The long body shuddered, rocked against him. “Great hands.”
“Let’s go shallower and I’ll show you what I can do with them.”
“Hell, yes.” He got another grin, this one all his. “There’s a little natural ledge over there, just the right height.”
“Lead the way, Bones.” He let the man go with reluctance, swimming easily until he found his footing. Bones settled up on the ledge, arms opening for him, water lapping at the thin torso.
It was perfect.
He slid his hands around Bones, landing on that sweet ass again, squeezing as his mouth found Bones’. Legs wrapped around his waist, body rubbing against him, nice and easy, cock hot as a brand. He let his fingers stroke along Bones’ crease, rocking them together. Fuck, it was nice to have a warm body to rub against. Felt good, so much better than his own hand.
Bones’ hands explored, finding his nipples, his ribs, searching out little hot spots and stroking them. He sent one of his own hands up along Bones’ spine. It was knobby and hard, but sensitive. His other hand stayed where it was and he started to tease Bones’ hot little hole.
“Mmm…” Bones purred against his lips, thighs shaking a little against him.
He kept that finger pushing against Bones’ hole, his other hand drawing around to pump their pricks together. Bones braced himself and started rocking, riding, involved and eager and right there. He stared into those green eyes and plundered the hot mouth, all the while working their cocks, hand sliding, squeezing. A soft gasp sounded, eyes rolling, the long cock jerking in his hand.
Fuck, that was hot. He pulled harder, his hips working with his hand. Fuck if the man didn’t stay hard, too, just seeming to want more, now.

Movie Tuesday
I saw two movies this past weekend -- both Marvel movies, as it happens!
First there was Avengers: Age of Ultron at the IMAX and I loved it!
There will be SPOILERS, so please don't keep reading if you're avoiding those.
Someone I know who saw it the day before I did said it wasn't as good as the first, but I thought it held up just fine and I'll have to wait to watch them back to back once it's out on Blu-Ray and see if I still think that they were as good as each other.
I loved James Spader as the voice of Ultron - he did such a good job infusing lots of emotion and snarkiness. I loved that Paul Bettany finally got to actually be in the movie as a physical character and not just the voice of Jarvis. I loved that we got some backstory for the Black Widow and that Hawkeye has a family! A totally off the grid nobody but Natasha knew about it family. And when he's home he does home renovation (maybe that's his way of promising to his wife that he'll be coming home - he has to - the floor in the back bedroom is all torn up...) I don't read the comics at all, so I didn't previously have any of that information.
I loved that Ultron was born of Tony Stark's arrogance. I'm going to bring peace to the world. Way to go Tony, but so very in character for him.
The fight scenes were great. The new powers people were great (I'm sad speedy dude bit the big one, I liked him). I loved that it followed beautifully from the TV show, so if you're following that, it's cool (the doc who escaped at the end of the episode of Marvel's Agents of Shield that aired right before the movie premiered was right there in the hydra base -- so cool) but if you don't follow the TV show, you can follow the movie just fine.
I loved Tony and Thor's rivalry regarding their ladies - Pepper's great, but Jane is better LOL. I loved all the Avengers trying to lift Thor's hammer. And then Vision picks it up nice and easy -- made for a beautiful plot point later on the ultimate fight against Ultron, but also for Thor, gave him a reason to trust Vision -- he obviously was worthy.
I could go on, but I'm not going to -- suffice it to say (again) that I loved the movie.
My only bitch was that Agent Coulson wasn't in the movie. Not even a little cameo.
The second movie was at home on Blu-Ray -- Big Hero 6. This was an adorable and fun movie and I loved Baymax so very much. Who knew a big plastic puffball could be so lovable? I also loved that the city was San Fransokyo. It was a totally fun movie. And the little animated short that's also on the Blu-Ray is totally worth seeing as well.
I'd be going to see Maggie (zombies and Arnie? Sounds like a great combo) this coming weekend, but it isn't opening in Ottawa until May 15! Whose idea was that?

My God It's Monday
I wrote this yesterday and then got distracted by something shiny before I had a chance to hit publish on it... yeah, and it was even a good Monday...
Well, we've hit the time of year where I enjoy the early mornings and the evenings, but the day in between is already starting to be too hot and it looks like I'm going to have to put the A/C on. This makes me sad -- too hot too soon. Can't it wait until July? I shouldn't complain too much - ams and pms are still decent and come July they won't be.
This week I've got a couple of reprints being released and I've some books to get ready for submission - no rest for the wicked ;)
It's funny, I'll get in the groove for something - editing/writing/doing blog posts/etc. and it'll be hard to switch gears from one to the other. If the writing is going very well, it'll be harder for me to edit or to hang out on Facebook or whatever, but if I'm hanging out on Facebook, it'll be hard to switch gears and edit. Of course I can always switch gears to just hanging about being lazy. Why is that?

Milling Out at distributors!
Beer & Clay book 2 - Milling - is now out at the distributors!
Beer & Clay: Milling
Toby and Damon’s whirlwind romance continues, but can they find a balance between love and work? Do they even want to?
Toby can scarcely believe that his life has changed so much in less than two weeks, but it has. His predictable little life has gone from routine to sexually adventurous in a matter of days. And to be honest, he wouldn’t have it any other way.
Damon’s just as into Toby, more interested in exploring with his new lover than spending all his time at the bar. Luckily things are running fairly smoothly there with his hand only occasionally needed on the rudder.
Their idyllic love affair has a few bumps to withstand, though, in the form of an intruder with a gun. Can Toby and Damon survive what happens next?

smutty excerpt:
"So do you still want me to pose for you?” He really wasn’t sure it was necessary, but he wanted to. He wanted to be the center of Toby’s amazing focus.
“God, yes. Please.” Toby’s curls bounced some more as he nodded.
“Cool. It’s your show—how do you want me?” Damon was looking forward to it, to seeing Toby’s process, his work.
“Do you mind being naked for photos?”
“As long as you’re the only one who will see them, that’s fine.” He wasn’t shy, but didn’t figure anyone else needed to see him in his altogether.
“I’ll just have them on my computer, I promise.”
“Then naked it is.”
His pants were already undone, so Damon just pushed them down. He loved how Toby’s expression heated, how those eyes trailed over him like he was the hottest thing ever. Toeing off his shoes and stepping out of his jeans, he made a show of grasping the bottom of his shirt and very slowly pulling it up along his body.
Toby picked up his camera, but never got it to his face. “Oh. Oh, right there. Let me grab— Stay there.”
“Like this?” His face was half covered by his arms, his shirt up as far as his nipples—he knew because he could feel the air against them, making them hard.
“Please. Oh, God.”
“Anything you want, baby.”
He resisted the urge to shake his head at himself when he realized he was holding his breath and forced himself to fill his lungs.
There was the sound of the camera, then the scratch of pencil on paper. His arms wanted down, but he ignored them, holding the position for his beautiful artist.
“You’re… God, I want to sculpt that,” Toby told him. “You can move. I have it.”
Damon pulled the shirt the rest of the way off, and let it drop along with his arms. “You didn’t tell me posing for you was going to be a workout,” he teased.
“Uh-huh.” Toby stared at him and it was the most intensely sexual sensation, the way the heated gaze traveled over his body.
Suddenly, Damon was very, very sure that he didn’t want Toby having any other subject but himself. He didn’t want anyone else feeling that touch-like gaze. He didn’t want Toby looking at anyone else the way Toby was looking at him this very moment. The emotion surprised him, but it aroused him badly too.
His cock bumped against his belly, leaving a wet kiss on his skin. Toby moaned and headed for the clay, eyes touching him as those long fingers molded the clay.
“Being your subject is unbelievably arousing.” Damon had expected it to be hot, but not as intimate and sexy as this.
“Uh-huh. I… God, I have to do this.”
The music got louder and before he knew it, Toby was jacking a clay version of his cock.
Damon closed his eyes, swallowing hard. “Baby…”
Toby’s pierced erection was leaking, was achingly full, and his boy… Fuck, that was pure sex. Damon thought he could stand there and watch all day long.
The tension built and built, and he wanted to bury himself inside Toby, slam in and feel that tiny ass all around his cock.
“Let me know when you’re ready for a break.” The words growled out of him.
“I could sculpt you forever. Forever.”
“I can’t wait forever.” Damon was hard put to last another minute with Toby just over there, naked, hard and sexy as fuck.
“No…” Toby’s hand dropped to his own cock, stroked it once, hard.
“No.” Damon snapped the word out. “That’s mine. No touching.”
“I need…” Toby stroked again, defying him.
“Last warning and if you don’t let go right now, I’m going to put you over the back of that chair and spank you.”
Spunk sprayed from Toby, the pearlescent seed arcing as he came.
