Movie Monday

It was a movie extravaganza this past weekend.

I rewatched Guardians of the Galaxy on blu-ray. I love this movie and am very much looking forward to the second one which is coming out next month. I love all the characters in this, but Groot is my favorite, including baby Groot. But I really do love them all. Drax who takes everything literally... it's all great. And Chris Pratt is yummy.

I also watched the new Ghostbusters on blu-ray. I liked this one better than I thought I would. I find it hard when I really like the original to go into a remake. But it was great. All the references back to the original, and the cameos, were great. And I loved Kevin the idiotic but handsome receptionist. What a cutie. And what a great way to make me watch the credits - having him boogying during the first half of them!

I also went to see Ghost in the Shell. I have to preface this by saying that I'm a big cyberpunk fan (especially William Gibson) and I was so excited about Johnny Mnemonic and was so disappointed. So I was both trepidacious and excited about this one. Visually, this was perfect. I think they needed to wait for the technology they now have before they could truly do cyberpunk justice.

So it was a beautiful movie. It was a fun movie. It had action and a story line. It had the corporations. It had the enhancements and the net. And I loved it. Johanssen was really good in the lead role. She held herself like you'd expected a robot to. And her walk was off just enough to be a robot walk instead of a human walk. The secondary characters were good, too. I'd definitely recommend it and I am going to get it when it comes out on blu-ray because I'm going to want to see it again.

Happy Monday all!

  1. GAH we should rematch Guardians! I'm so excited for the sequel, I hope it's good.

I too enjoyed the Ghostbusters remake, it was fun.

And LOVED Ghost in the Shell - every bit of it, for all the reasons you listed.
