Book Day Wednesday - Once You Go Demon

I'd like to thank Changeling Press for republishing Once You Go Demon for me. The novel had only been out a couple months when the whole ARE mess happened. Hopefully you hadn't had a chance to pick it up yet!

Once You Go Demon

There's a shift of power happening in Hell, and nothing will ever be the same.

Kerr has been with High Demon Horatio's household since his age of majority. A natural submissive pleasure demon, for the last seven years he has been untouched by his master Horatio and his job has morphed into a more managerial role. Still, it's a shock when goons from Master Belial's house arrive at his doorstep to inform him he's been sold and his new master expects him to come immediately.

Lost by Horatio in a card game, Kerr finds himself in the Belial household, where Ceris, Master of the Harem, takes Kerr under his wing. Kerr is not only honored and used as he was made to be, but he is given a newly acquired demon, Harmony, as his own to train. The three pleasure demons have a rocky start, but they have all the time in Hell to figure out how to work together, and it isn't long before they begin to care for one another.

Meanwhile, Belial has waited for thousands of years for Horatio to admit he's actually a submissive. When it appears that's never going to happen, Belial arranges for his best friend to lose a card game in which he's offered himself as the prize. Horatio can't believe Belial would do this for him, but the council puts their seal of approval on the bet, and he has no choice but to offer himself to Belial, who immediately gets to work convincing Horatio that he'll be so much happier as Belial's sub.

Will Kerr and Horatio find joy in their places in the Belial household? Only time will tell.

It'll be available on Friday at Changeling Press!

Excerpt:

Kerr stared at the paper the incredibly well dressed goons at the door handed him.
Sold?

Him?

He'd been sold into Horatio Liverage's house to act as the man's submissive since he was of maturity, and now, after so long, Horatio had sold him without a word? Without a note?

Nonsense.

Utter nonsense.

"There must be a mistake."

The goon pointed one clawed finger at the insignia at the bottom of the page. "What does that signify?"

"Horatio Liverage." He couldn't deny it was his master's seal.

"Then there isn't a mistake. Bring us Kerr, and we'll be on our way." The teeth on the guy doing the talking brooked no argument. Neither did the tufts of smoke coming out of Silent and Scary's ears.

"I'm Kerr. I have to gather my things, make arrangements..." Right? Didn't he get that much at least?

The lower demon looked at the contract again. "It doesn't say anything about belongings here. Let's go."

"I have precious things that hold my family name, and it doesn't say that I can't bring them. I am not resisting, simply gathering my stuff." He could bargain with the best of them. He knew he had to convince them, though, as either one of them could pick him up and toss him over a shoulder without even trying.

Henchman One turned to Henchman Two, who shrugged.

"Is your master here? He can decide."

"He is not. He's away. As such, I am second in charge of the household." He held no illusions that he was beloved or even a lover, but he was well trusted with finances and with all aspects of Horatio's life. "I shall return in moments."

He began to pack -- the stash of jewels he had been collecting for years, his few precious books, his favorite clothes, and the music and computer that were his. He grabbed his toiletries, the hologram of his sire and dam, and the fragile glass orb that throbbed with a sweet, gentle light.

Both goons were frowning when he came back, pushing the pallet of his things.

"We won't be party to you stealing from your master."

"I haven't stolen a thing. These things are my own and now go with me to my new master." Fuckers. Horatio might be able to sell him on a whim, but these were his possessions and they were going with him.

They looked at each other again, shrugged, and turned, heading down the walk toward the truck at the end of it. "We're not toting anything," the talker called back over his shoulder.

"Not yet," Kerr muttered.

He wasn't some pointless goon. He was a highly trained, highly useful sexual submissive and house servant. Soon he would find a place with whomever the fuck the asshole prick that never made love to him anyway, dickhead, had sold his papers to, and then this mouth breather would do what Kerr said.

The goon opened the back door and just stood there, watching him putting his things in. "You're riding back there, too."

"Thank you so much." He rolled his eyes, pushed his hair behind his ears, and climbed in, telling himself that he wasn't hurt, that he was nothing but property, that he shouldn't cry. One day, that might even work.

The door closed with a loud clang, leaving him in the dark, the engine starting up moments later. The truck lurched forward, sending him falling onto his ass.

He did cry then, silently, heartbroken. He'd lost his home, his job, his master, and no one had so much as warned him. Someone had written up that paperwork, someone had made the arrangements, and someone had thrown him away.

He couldn't believe Horatio had done this to him, and without any warning at all, not a word to him.

The truck stopped abruptly, the brakes squeaking loudly. The door opened again, the dull grey sky seeming bright after the darkness of the truck.

Two little slaves popped up into the back and began grabbing his stuff.

He lifted his chin and firmed his lips. He was well trained, valuable. Special in his own right. Men begged to be wealthy enough to own him.

"Come, come," murmured one boy, motioning for him to get down from the truck and follow. He couldn't see the two goons. "You're going to be in the salle, honored one. Your groom is Ceris, and he is the Salle Master."

Finally, someone realized how important he was, what his stature was, even if he was a slave. He followed the lad through a side door and along a winding hall of stone. This place was much brighter than his mast -- than his former master's, more marble than rock on the columns and floors, white and light blue shot through with silver and gold.

When they arrived at the harem, the whole place still felt luxurious and gilded, as if the master lived back here as well as the front of the house. Well, his new master was very rich, there was no denying that.

A huge bald man stood as he walked in, bowing to him solemnly. "Honored one. I am Ceris, your groom. Boy, put the things in the gold room, then call for tea."

The lad who'd guided him here bowed and went running with Kerr's things, deeper into the harem.

"Welcome to Lord Belial's harem. We were very excited to learn he won you and that you would be joining us."

Lord Belial? Bel? Horatio had sold him to his best friend? Seriously?

"Thank you for your welcome." He bowed automatically, his training taking over immediately.

"Tea is coming. After that, I imagine you'd like a bath. Perhaps something light to eat."

Ceris was a handsome demon. The bald head exposed the little horns completely, and they glowed in the light. His bare chest was beautifully muscled, the gauzy pants exposing strong legs and hinting at a heavy cock. There was a heavy spiky gold tattoo covering Ceris' ridged belly, marking him as Master Bel's, Kerr was sure. Marked, but lovely.

"I... Yes, of course." He was developing the world's worst headache.

A lad, different than the first two, he thought, came in with a tray holding a teapot and two teacups. He left them on a low table, bowed deeply.

"Thank you, Totz. You can go."

The boy did, hurrying off like he had somewhere to be.

"Please. Sit." Ceris waved toward the benches that surrounded the table.

"Thank you, Ceris." He and Ceris were equals, and he refused to treat the man with less respect than he deserved. "I was not aware I was to be transferred. Not until the papers arrived at the door."

Transferred. Traded. Discarded.

"That's unfortunate. Were you able to collect all your things?" Ceris asked, pouring out the tea.

"I brought the things that were special that I could carry. What will my duties be here? In my former home, I acted as valet and head of household -- finances, staff management, that sort of thing."

Ceris shot him a confused look. "I was led to believe you were a trained submissive, honored one."

"Yes, I was. My former master chose not to use me in that regard." Not for many years and not often when he had.

"Perhaps that's why he wagered you in the game of chance he played with our master last night." Ceris leaned forward and spoke quietly, confidentially. "He's still here, sleeping it off. It got very loud and much was imbibed. I'm very sorry for the way it happened, but maybe it's for the better. There is no where else in all of Hell that I would rather be."

"I will thrive wherever they wish me to be." He hoped. He had no choice.

Ceris looked him up and down, gaze almost like a physical touch. "I'm sure you will."

Top Ten Tuesday - Scents

Thank you to those who left suggestions for Top Ten lists - please feel free to leave your suggestions for me.

I am very sensitive to scents and I'm allergic to a lot of things, so many scents actually bother me. So this list wasn't as easy to compile as you might think!

Top Ten Scent

10 - cow manure on fields - okay, this is where I admit to being wierd. I love driving through the country and smelling that scent of fields fertilized with cow manure. It's got to be cow manure, though - lots of other manures are nasty. I think it might harken back to visiting my grandparents on their farm when I was little. Neither of them are with me anymore.

9 - bacon cooking - I love the smell of bacon cooking. Once I've eaten it, though, the scent seems gross and I want it gone

8 - the ground melting - Come sprint when the dirt is wet and warming up, there's this wonderful, earthy smell that I enjoy.

7 - leather - Even when it's not attached to a jacket on a stud, I love the smell of leather

6 - mint - clean and crisp, and yummy

5 - Ivory soap - there's nothing in it and it just smells clean to me

4 - the ocean - the smell of the ocean feels like coming home

3 - cinnamon - especially if baking with it is involved

2 - fresh berries - strawberries, blueberries, raspberries - they're all delicious smelling

1 - bread baking - this is best scent ever

What's your favorite scent?

My God It's Monday

First Monday of year 51. So far so good. Let's hope it stays that way!

We're having very bizarre January weather. It's been around freezing for weeks and it looks like it's not really going to get that much colder before February. It's still going to be  warmer than usual for February, though, from the long term forecast.  Just weird. I hope it doesn't mean we're going to have a hotter than usual summer!

I have lemon tart from Second Avenue Sweets which is amazing - they do their curd good and lemony. It makes my  mouth pucker without having a bitter edge. Too often lemon items are not lemony enough, but this one is great. And it doesn't taste at all artificial, either.

I have a few deadlines at the end of the month, and so I'll be writing my fingers off this week. Which is a good thing - it'll keep me out of trouble anyway ;)

I hope you all had a good Monday.

Movie Monday

The only movie I watched this week was Maximum Ride on Netflix. It was... one of those movies that wasn't bad, but it had potential to be so much more. It actually felt an awful lot like the beginning of a series and ended rather open-ended. I definitely wanted to know more about the whole world and who the characters were. So if it was the start of a series, that's fine, but as a stand alone movie, it was rather wanting.

I also watched Almost Famous, the latest Russell Peters special. He's one of my favourite comedians. This was a good one, though I enjoyed his Notorious show more. I do love how he riffs off the audience, picking folks out and just going with it. I recommend any of his shows.

Finished watching Luke Cage on Netflix. Very intense, very good. He was my favorite character on Jessica Jones, so it was good to get his story too. I'm looking forward to new seasons of the show.

Just started watching Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency also on Netflix. I'm about four episodes in. The characters are quirky as hell, bizarre and weird and strange, as is the whole show. It's also hilarious. I'm enjoying it a lot. I haven't read the books, so it's all new and I have no idea how closely its sticking to the storyline. But I'm enjoying it and looking forward to more.

Theatre movies on my interest list include xXx: Return of Xander Cage, Monster Truck and the new Underworld and Resident Evil. I will probably wind up not seeing any of them in the theatre but instead watching them once they're out on Blu-Ray.

Sneak Peek Sunday - Branded by Flames

I thought I'd start a new thing this year. Sneak Peek Sunday. I won't always have a chance to do a bit and sometimes it'll be a snippet from a coming soon book, sometimes it'll be a snippet from a book that I'm currently working on, but I thought it would be fun.

Up first is an excerpt from Branded by Flames, the first book in my new series with Carina Press - Dragon Soul.

Branded by Flames

Introducing a brand-new male/male dragon shifter series from bestselling LGBTQ author Sean Michael!

Meet the Beteferoce brothers. Five dragon shifters, each with a strong elemental power. And each with a fierce desire to find his soul mate…

For years, dragon-shifter-slash-firefighter Jake has been searching for his mate, but he's beginning to tire of the search. Maybe soul mates are only for the lucky few.

Then he meets Shae.

A former navy welder, Shae is handsome, talented, into power play and rough sex, and covered in dragon tattoos. All of this suits the shape-shifting dragon just fine—until he finds out that Shae literally has Jake's family crest already tattooed on him. A coincidence? Or something more…

Jake must convince Shae to trust him as a man and as a Dom before the heat between them burns out of control. Becoming a dragon's mate is not without danger, and Shae will need Jake's guidance—and love—if he's going to make it through alive.

Sneak Peek:

Jake showered after his shift, taking time to jack off to the memory of the sexy silver fox with the gorgeous eyes and smokin’ bod. It hadn’t taken long at all for him to climax. Now if things went like he hoped they would, he’d be able to last a while instead of shooting like a high-schooler the minute he and Mr. Creates-Dragons-out-of-Metal got naked. Because naked-time was definitely the plan. Shae called to all his instincts, begged to be used, to be made to submit. And Jake did like to give people what they needed. He couldn’t wait to see the sculpture and the artist again.

He headed out, focused on returning to the scene of no crime. To the home of the man with the dragon in his side yard. It seemed like kismet, really. Stopping on the way, he picked up a couple of pizzas, making half of one vegetarian, just in case, and the rest all meat all the time, because he was a meatatarian.

The dragon on the lawn was in the same state as it had been earlier, which was cool—now Jake had an excuse to come back if it turned out that one round wasn’t enough with the delectable Shae. He rang the bell, still looking at the lines of the big metal beast, admiring the handiwork.

“In the back!” Warm, dark eyes met his from around the dragon, Shae’s smile more than a little come-hither. “Come on, man. I’m starting some steaks. You want one?”

Hot, Stacked and Sexy was in nothing but a pair of ancient, paper-thin jeans, and his undercut hair was loose, framing the bearded face. Shae turned and slunk—not walked, nothing that fluid and sexy could be anything so pedestrian as walking—toward the back deck. Glancing back casually, Shae licked his lips.

Fuck, but Jake’s urge to push the man to his knees and tug on that silver-shot hair, pull Shae’s head back and take that mouth, grew with every move Shae made.

“That trumps my pizzas any day.” Besides, cold pizza was totally its own food group.

“Mmm. There’s nothing wrong with a good pizza.” Shae turned, and there wasn’t an uninked section of torso and arms, the black and gray patterns fucking fascinating. Almost as good as the double-pierced nipples with their tiny rings and barbells.

Jake hummed happily. Maybe there was potential here for more than a quick roll in the hay, maybe his thought that he might need more than one night to get his fill had been bang on. Those pierced nipples spoke to him, whispered words like pain slut, which were two of his favorite words. The fact that Shae wanted to feed him spoke to him, too, said that Shae knew how to treat a Dom.

“We could save it for breakfast,” Jake suggested.

Shae nearly missed the last step, tripping up onto the deck. “We could discuss it over a beer. See if we’re compatible.”

Huh. He wasn’t wrong about the vibes he’d picked up earlier. What had a few hours of being alone and thinking sparked in Shae that he was wound up so tight now? Whatever was going on in Shae’s head, Jake had faith that he could turn it back around again. “Works for me.”

The backyard was even bigger than the side yard, and it was littered with art. Jake was eager to see it, but he wanted a beer and some close-up one-on-one time with Shae more. The art wasn’t going anywhere. Shae needed his focus.

“Beer?” Shae didn’t wait for him to answer, simply tossed him a microbrew. Good taste.

Jake opened the twist top and took a swig, the cold brew hitting his throat in the best way. “Nice.”

“Yep. How do you take your meat?” Shae said it casually, but looked at him through his lashes.

“That’s a leading question.” He lowered his voice to an intimate growl. “And I like it rare.”

“Rare it is.” There was a tear in those jeans, right under the curve of Shae’s ass cheek.

Jake itched to run his fingers along it, to feel the heat of Shae’s skin. Instead he took a seat, sprawling to accommodate his more-than-interested cock.

“How long you been a firefighter, man? You like it?” Shae asked.

“All my life, and I love it. Me and fire have always had an affinity.” The words made him grin—the biggest understatement ever.

Top Ten Tuesday - T-shirts

I love t-shirts. It's what I wear the most (yay for working from home) and as I get older, being comfortable becomes more and more important.

The things I look for in a t-shirt are comfort, which includes softness and a wide enough neckline that I don't feel constricted. Then comes what's on it, color, pattern, etc. So here's my top ten t-shirts list:

10 -  Making the list in the number 10 spot is an Old Navy t-shirt from 2014. I know that's when it's from because it has the year on it. It's red and has the Canadian flag on it - it was being sold for Canada day.

9 - I have two star wars t-shirts that are super soft, thin and cool for the summer. One has R2D2 on it, the other has a stormtrooper helmet.

8 - My white Coastal Magic t-shirt from last year is really soft and comfy.

7 - This is a brand new one - got it just before Christmas. It's dark red, really soft right out of the box, and says Keep Calm, Christmas is Coming on it.

6 -  I have a shirt that is purple and beige and has Santa Fe, land of enchantment on it.

5 - I have this t-shirt I bought in New Zealand. It's got a map of the southern hemisphere, with the counties only outlined, except for New Zealand which is filled in with green. Only the map is upside down from what we're used to in the northern hemisphere - the south pole is at the top. It's says New Zealand on top and Down Under on the bottom. This one is over twenty-five years old and so very comfy, but not at all threadbare.

4 - This favorite is black and it has "Tyranoseahorserex" on it - there's a dino with a tyrannosaurus upper body, including tiny arms, and a the body of a seahorse.

3 - This t-shirt is also black and has two dinosaurs on it, and one dino is saying "dude, did you just eat the last unicorn?" and the second dino is saying "no." but he has rainbow colors all over his mouth and there's a rainbow puddle and a unicorn horn on the ground in front of him.

2 - Almost my favorite but not quite inching out #1 is the t-shirt that Kiernan Kelly sent me. It's set up like a Christmas t-shirt, but instead of elves or Santa or anything, it has a pair of polar bears butt-fucking on it. I love it!

1 - My David Bowie Glass Spider Tour t-shirt. I don't wear this one anymore, it's see-through and so thin I'm sure it'll disintegrate if I wash it too many more times It is after all 33 years old. But this one has always been butter soft and is super comfortable and come on, it's David Bowie!

Movie Monday

I had a bit of a movie fest this past weekend. The first two are from Saturday, which fared much better than Sunday's choices.

There will be spoilers for Suicide Squad, The Huntsman, Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, Jason Bourne and Tarzan, so please skip this post if you don't want any spoilers from any of those movies.

Suicide Squad

I liked this one. It was a little slow to start. It doesn't help that they tried to jam eight or so origin stories into the beginning of the movie, but once they got through that, it picked up. It was great that the strongest characters were the women - Harley Quinn, the witch and the head of the secret organization lady.

The special effects were really great -  loved the witch and her brother.

I've been watching Killing on Netflix and the guy who played the soldier in charge is in that, so it was neat seeing him in something else, playing a different character.

It's set up for more and I'll definitely watch them. And Harley Quinn was my favorite. I do love the crazy.

The Huntsman

I think there was more to the title, but let's face it, I was watching this one for the huntsman ;)

And on that front it didn't disappoint. Actually, it didn't disappoint at all. The special effects were amazing and there was some amazing visuals. I liked the story, I liked the dwarves, and yes, I liked the huntsman.

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children

I haven't read the book associated with this one, but it's a good story. I managed to nod off for about ten or fifteen minutes in the first half hour or so of the show, and was able to pick it back up again no problem.

The last forty five minutes or so was honestly the best part of the movie. I did enjoy all the 'peculiarities' of the various children.

Jason Bourne

I watched this for about twenty minutes. Basically until the end of the interminable Greek riot scene. Man, that was in serious need of some editing. I have no idea if it got better after that, because I didn't stick around.

Tarzan

This one was actually a pretty good movie, but I spent the whole thing thinking, it doesn't matter if you beat this asshole who is enslaving everyone and making mischief and being a bastard, because another one is going to be right behind him and that guy will succeed. The real history of what happened in Africa hung over my movie-watching experience with this one making it hard for me to celebrate with the characters at the end.

The animals were beautifully done and I thought it was a decent adaptation of the source material, it just made me sad.
